Dwarf form of the popular F. lyrata, more compact with smaller, thicker leaves than lyrata. Firm broad leaves with a curvy edge, reminiscent in shape of a violin, hence the common name. Easycare indoor, container or tropical garden plant. Needs a sheltered frost-free spot over 10C. Happy in tropical gardens, on a sheltered balcony, and indoors. Mulch and water with a seaweed-based fertiliser on planting to reduce transplant shock, follow with regular watering until the plant is established, usually around 12 weeks. Apply a slow-release fertiliser twice yearly and protect from frost. container plants may need extra feed and a repot into fresh soil once a year. Wipe the leaves with a damp cloth to keep them healthy and looking good.
